Home | Braces | Page 2

Did you know if you care for your braces you can increase the longevity and successful rate of your ideal alignment? Well, it’s true! Remembering properly caring for your braces is equally as important as caring for your smile. That is why our team has provided this list for you as you undergo treatment to align your smile with braces. The list includes:

– Food: Avoid various foods and snacks that can easily get stuck between your teeth and braces.
– Safety Equipment: To protect your teeth and braces, wear safety equipment to suit your environment. This includes mouth guards, helmets, face protectors, etc.
– Cleaning: Always clean your retainer weekly.
– Oral Hygiene: To keep your braces clean, you should still brush your teeth twice daily and floss once daily to prevent harmful food particles from becoming trapped between wedges in your braces and teeth.
– Appointments: Visit your orthodontist regularly for checkups and appointments.

Your braces are designed to realign your teeth through the course of regular adjustment sessions. If any part of your braces is damaged or if you develop cavities on multiple teeth, it will likely increase the amount of time it takes to achieve your ideal smile. With that in mind, there are a few different oral hygiene tools that can help you clean the hard-to-reach places around your braces.

Interdental brushes have small-angled brush heads that can help you brush between wires and brackets and remove food particles from where your teeth meet the gums. They are especially handy for getting small food particles out of bands and spacers.

You might want to try using a floss threader if you’re having issues flossing between your teeth and around the gumline. This a simple loop-shaped tool that is loaded with waxed dental floss and can help you floss around the wires and other hardware.

Dental water jets come in a variety of brands with minute changes in design. They all generate a focused stream of water that can help loosen and wash away food particles from hard-to-reach places. Just keep in mind that this is not a viable alternative to flossing.

If you have a question about how to best clean and maintain your braces in [city], [state], you can always call [practice_name] at [phone] to seek further advice from your dentist, Dr. [doctor_name].

It’s Halloween time! Fall activities, haunted houses, costumes, corn mazes, parties, and of course, trick or treating. But there’s one other vital reason to celebrate this month for our patients. It’s National Orthodontic Health month! We want you to have a fantastic Halloween that is also safe for your braces, so here are our tips.

To have a safe Halloween for your braces we recommend you avoid candies that can harm them. To keep your braces safe, you should avoid the types of candy that are hard, gummy, sticky, or chewy. But there is good news!

The great thing is that there are plenty of candies you can enjoy. Any sort of soft candy is good, as long as it’s not sticky. Soft candy bars, bite-sized chocolates, peppermint patties, and peanut butter cups are all perfectly fine to eat.

Since your braces add a good deal of extra care to your daily oral hygiene, you should be especially vigilant in your brushing and flossing. Sweets can cause cavities, and the longer the exposure, the greater the likelihood of decay, so be especially thorough this month.

To learn more about how to care for your braces during the Halloween season, call [practice_name] in [city], [state]. Dr. [doctor_name] would love to help you. Happy Halloween!
