Every Dental Exam Includes a Screening for Oral and Pharyngeal Cancer

Home | dental checkup

Dental checkups are just as important for maintaining good oral health, as your daily oral hygiene routine. This calls for attending a regularly scheduled dental cleaning and exam at a qualified oral health clinic like [practice_name], every six months

This outpatient appointment is designed to clean and polish your teeth, while also looking for signs of tooth decay, periodontal health problems, and other oral health problems. This might also include preventative measures.

A basic screening for early signs and symptoms of oral and pharyngeal cancers is also included at the end of the dental exam. Left unchecked or undiagnosed the treatment rates for these cancers can drop significantly.

Dr. [doctor_name] will do this by examining your tongue, cheek, gums, and throat for any aberrations, deformations, or changes in color. If you have been experiencing discomfort or any abnormal symptoms in your throat or mouth you should tell Dr. [doctor_name].

If Dr. [doctor_name] notices early signs of oral or pharyngeal cancer, [heshe] will refer you to an oncologist or another oral care specialist to confirm the diagnosis and start developing a treatment plan.

If you’re in the [city], [state], area and you have an oral health concern, you should not delay in calling [phone] to schedule a checkup at [practice_name].

Toothaches are inconvenient and painful. If there were ways you could avoid toothaches, would you do them? If so, our [practice_name] dental team has some helpful tips for you! In order to avoid toothaches in [city], [state], we encourage you to do the following things:

–Keep up on oral hygiene: Brush your teeth for two minutes every morning and every night. As you brush, make sure you use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. The soft bristles will deeply clean your smile from toothache-causing particles and the fluoride will help strengthen your tooth enamel. After you’re done brushing at night, follow the routine with flossing and rinsing. When you floss, be careful along the gumline. When you rinse, use a beneficial product, like fluoride or antibacterial mouthwash.

–Visit your dentist: There are many things that can cause a toothache, including tooth decay and enamel erosion. To prevent these things, you need to visit Dr. [doctor_name] every six months. The treatment involved will deeply clean your smile and it will also strengthen your tooth enamel with fluoride. This will help keep the toothaches away.

–Eat a healthy and balanced diet: Eating tooth-healthy foods will help you prevent pain and aches in your teeth, especially if you avoid eating sugary products as much as possible. Another cause of a toothache is food being stuck in your teeth. If this happens, don’t be afraid to remove the particle with dental floss.

Your dentist, Dr. [doctor_name], and our dental team care about you and your smile, which is why we’re here to help you in any way we can. So, if you have any questions or if you would like to learn more about toothaches, please feel free to call our office today at [phone]. We look forward to helping you!

At VIP Smiles in Syracuse, Utah, we offer white tooth-colored fillings for our patients who need a dental restoration. These resin or composite fillings are amalgam and mercury-free for the oral health of our patients. Because we use Micro-Air Abrasion, we can remove tooth decay quickly, from 2-4 minutes instead of the 20-30 which traditional fillings require!

Dental fillings are created to withstand the ongoing pressures of biting and chewing, and with good oral care and maintenance, they can last 5-15 years, depending on their composition. Even so, fillings do wear down with time, or chip, crack, and even fall out and require replacing.

Leaking – dental fillings can sometimes leak, and when this happens, oral debris consisting of bacteria and food particles enter the area beneath the filling. Because you cannot clean this area, the bacteria will create further decay by producing acid from feeding on this debris. Because this can go on for a while before you notice it, regular dental checkups are important to catching this. During a checkup our dedicated dentists, Drs. Shad, Richard, and Clive Ingram are able to detect if this is happening even before symptoms manifest.

Cracking – over time cracks can develop in fillings, even from biting down, particularly if the filling is higher than the tooth’s surface. Cracks can also develop around the edges of the filling and can be fixed instead of replaced, depending on the size and depth of the crack. And if you grind your teeth while you sleep you can wear down fillings prematurely.

Losing a filling – fillings can be lost for various reasons. You might accidentally bite down too hard on something, or the filling might not have been strong enough for the tooth it was originally placed on, or if the tooth didn’t bond properly during initial placement because saliva entered the cavity during the restoration process. If you do end up losing a filling, it will require replacement to preserve the tooth.

At VIP Smiles in Syracuse, Utah, we are happy to offer our patients white tooth-colored fillings for a beautiful, healthy, natural looking smile. So, if it is time for your next dental checkup or if you are experiencing problems with a filling, you can reach our dedicated team by calling [phone] today.
